Virginie Xhauflair is an Assistant Professor at HEC-Management School, University of Liege, holding the Baillet Latour Chair in Social Investment and Philanthropy. She teaches specific courses related to Philanthropy and Impact Investing, and general courses in HRM and Organization Theory. She holds a PhD in Management and Economics from the Sorbonne Graduate Business School (University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) and from HEC-Management School of the University of Liege, a Master Degree in Anthropology from the University of Liege and a MPhil Degree in social sciences from the Catholic University of Louvain. After ten years of action-research experience at LENTIC, a centre at HEC-ULg focusing on inter-organisational innovation processes, she joined the Centre for Social Economy in 2013. In 2011 and 2012, she was a visiting fellow at Centre for Business Research at the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge. Her research work focus on how innovative schemes emerging at local level contribute to the transformation of social regulation, especially regarding labour market regulation. She is particularly interested in the reflexive role of third-party actors supporting and coaching these change processes. In the framework of the Baillet Latour Chair (www.chaire-philanthropie.be), she is now developing a research programme focusing on the Belgian philanthropic sector, addressing two main issues: (1) strategies and governance practices of Belgian philanthropic foundations (2) emerging social investment instruments in Belgium.
