Conference-breakfast: “Social Investors and Social Entrepreneurs: New allies for Social Impact?” (March 7, Brussels), with Piet Colruyt (SI2Fund) and Felix Oldenburg (Ashoka Europe)

The Baillet Latour Chair on Philanthropy and Social Investment (HEC Management School, University of Liege)—whose holder is SOCENT professor Virginie Xhauflair—organizes, in partnership with the “Academy for Social Entrepreneurs”, a series of “conference-lectures” on practices and current trends in philanthropy in Belgium. For more information (in French) about these “conference-lectures”, click here.

Two events that will take place in March in this framework are particularly worth highlighting. They both question the role of innovative forms of philanthropy to support the development of social enterprises, or social projects developed at the local level:

  • A conference-breakfast (in English) entitled “Social Investors and Social Entrepreneurs: New Allies for Social Impact?” will be organized on March 7, 2014 in Brussels, from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., with Piet Colruyt (SI2 Fund & Ashoka member) and Felix Oldenburg (Ashoka Europe). • A conference (in French) on the theme “Social investment supporting local development: with which tools?” (“L'investissement social au service du développement local : avec quels outils ?”) will take place on March 14, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Liege (CRIE, Jardin Botanique), with Bernard Bayot (Réseau Financité), Thomas Dermine (KOIS Invest – Social Impact Bond), Sébastien Durieux (SRIW – SOWECSOM), Bernard Horenbeek (Credal) and Jacques Maître (CBC, Conseiller Non Marchand), among other participants.
